Aging Boomers don’t let go of their dreams easily. Though most are concerned about retirement, the majority still think there is another move somewhere in their future.
The big considerations weighing on Boomers’ decision to move during retirement will be:
- Proximity to family – More than half want to be within three travel house of their children, and will even move to their kids’ communities.
- Reduction of household expenses – The recession will cause many to sell down to cut costs, or move to a location where a lower cost of living will help stretch retirement savings.
- Lifestyle – Boomers are more diverse in their expectations of the next phase of life than their parents were. They want today’s hobbies and interest to be tomorrow’s lifestyle. They expect to be actively engaged in this second phase of their life, and move to destinations that allow them to live out hose dreams.
