Who Lives in the Villages?

by Carla Griffin on August 27, 2011

I have been asked many times about people living in The Villages.   Due to confidentiality, I am not able to give names and this is what I can tell you.

We are not a Retirement community nor a low-income housing project!   Our residents are from all walks of life including sports, politics, business, education, the medical profession and entertainment.    We have former CEO’s, Presidents, engineers, doctors, college professors, retired NFL players, artists, motor sports racing, football coaches, TV/radio personalities and anyone that you can think about.

Our residents move to the community for the peace-of-mind with the gated entrance, active recreational environment, and the privacy.

When do residents move here?  Some individuals/couples move here as soon as they or one of them is age 55.  Others have to wait until their nest is empty.  And some move here after retirement – especially if they move to The Villages from another state.

As for me, I moved to The Villages in 2000 for the security and an opportunity to reconnect with the hills and wildlife.    The social activities are numerous so one never wants for something to do and without getting into a car, just walk or hop onto your golf cart and go meet your friends!

In addition to the diversity of people who live in this community, we have many residents who spend part-time at other areas, such as summers on the Washington coast or Tahoe, winters in Florida or Mexico. The Villages Golf & Country Club provides a secure gated environment as a base for the adventurers and travelers.

My husband and I moved to The Villages 16 years ago. We have moved twice within the Villages and we hope to stay here forever. We love being able to travel to our Puerto Vallarta home at will knowing that our place is secure and well cared for. There is so much social life here ,I still haven’t joined all the Clubs that I have an interest for, yet the solitude of the hills is walking distance away. We sure enjoy our quiet country club home while the convenience of the city is only 20 mins away.

Love having you living in our community, Heather.
